The Boime Laboratory

The Boime Laboratory investigates the structure-activity relationships and regulation of the family of human glycoprotein hormones, which includes pituitary thyrotropin (TSH), lutropin (LH), follitropin (FSH) and the placental chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Our research focus is in the following areas:

1. Studies of the structural epitopes encoded in these hormones that govern protein-specific post-translational modification.

2. Elucidating the determinants that account for hormonal sorting and trafficking.

3. Design of agents for human and veterinary therapeutic indications.
